The Town Council had a work session on Monday June 20, 2005. This was
a week earlier than the usual 'last Monday of the month', because the
council will be at the annual meeting of the Maryland Municipal
League on June 27th. (An announcement was sent to this list, but the
group had only just been formed, so there weren't many members when
that note went out.) A tentative agenda was set for the Legislative
Meeting (details of that meeting are below). Unusual items on the
agenda include consideration of a request to endorse a resolution
made by the town of Landover Hills (this resolution would make it
easier for Wal-Mart to move into the old Capital Plaza shopping
center), appointment of member(s) to the Mixed Use Town Center (MUTC)
Architectural Review Committee, taking a position on zoning variances
for a proposed new church at the corner of Riverdale Road and 54th
Avenue, and adoption of rules of order for meetings of the Town
Council.

The Town Council will have a special legislative meeting on Thursday,
June 23 to reconcile the 2005 budget and finalize the 2006 Budget.
They will also consider a request to declare a temporary "No Parking"
zone on part of the 6000 block of Riverside Drive while a tree is
being removed from a resident's yard on July 1. This meeting will be
at Town Hall, 5008 Queensbury Road.

The Town Council will have its monthly legislative meeting on
Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at 8:00 p.m. As with all legislative
meetings, it will be at Town Hall, 5008 Queensbury Road.

On Wednesday, July 6, 2005, there will be two meetings. One is the
regular monthly meeting of the MUTC Architectural Review committee.
It will be at Town Hall at 8:00 p.m. This meeting may be cancelled
if there are no requests to be reviewed.

The second meeting on July 6, 2005, is the organizational meeting of
a recently formed citizen advisory board, the Communications
Committee. The Communications Committee was set up by Mayor Archer to
establish long-term direction and goals for the best utilization and
integration of all forms of communication, including the newsletter,
web site, cable channel, e-mail lists and any other communication
media. The Communications Committee has just started an e-mail list,
which everyone is invited to join for discussion. Details of this
list are available at
http://mail.riverdale-park.org/mailman/listinfo/comtalk_riverdale-park.org
This meeting will also be at Town Hall. (Don't worry -- there are
two meeting rooms there so there will be plenty of room!)

For details of these meetings please call the town offices during
business hours at (301) 927-6381. You can also reply to this message
and I will try to find an answer to any question you might have.
