[RP Town Announce] Notice from WSSC regarding Weekend Water Shut-off (9/27/14)

Due to necessary improvements and/or repairs to the water system in the
area, WSSC has scheduled a control WATER SHUT-OFF that will affect the 4700
to the 5000 blocks of Queensbury Road (affected residents will receive a
letter from WSSC) on;

 

Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M.

 

In the event of inclement weather or other technical problems the shutdown
will be re-scheduled for:

 

Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 9:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M.

 

Should you have questions concerning this water service interruption, feel
free to contact the WSSC Construction Office between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30
p.m., Monday through Friday, at 301-206-4307 or by e-mail
awilt at wsscwater.com.  (Construction Inspector, Andrew Shansby
ashansb at wsscwater.com 240-712-0302.) In the event that no one is available
to answer your call, please leave a message and they will return your call
as soon as possible. 

 

It is suggested that you draw sufficient water, prior to the shut-off, for
short-term use. The following containers are handy for storing a water
supply for the short term: for drinking purposes--clean glass or plastic
jars; for general purpose --sinks, laundry tubs, bathtubs, picnic coolers,
and kitchen pots and pans.  (Make sure that large containers/tubs are
inaccessible to small children.)

 

When your service is restored, you may experience temporary discoloration of
the water or have air in the water system (water spurts from the faucets).
Trapped air and discolored water may be cleared by opening the highest
bathroom tub faucet in the home (located on top floor) for a minute or so.
Then open every other faucet, one at a time, working from the highest to the
lowest floor.  Running the cold water for a few minutes will normally flush
out any discolored water from your pipes.  These conditions are temporary
and should clear up in less than twenty-four hours.  If you still experience
problems, please call the 24-hour Maintenance Service number, 301-206-4002,
