PEPCO SCAM ALERT

 

 

            The Riverdale Park Police Department would like to ALERT the
public of a money SCAM that is occurring to businesses and residents in
Riverdale Park regarding PEPCO accounts.  Several businesses and residents
have been contacted via telephone by individuals claiming to be PEPCO
representatives, these individuals advise the account holder is past due on
their PEPCO account and service is scheduled for disconnection.  The
representative then demands immediate payment via MoneyGram, Reloadit Cards,
RushCards, or similar pre-paid cards.    

 

If any member of the public receives a similar call from individuals
claiming to be a PEPCO representative, please contact PEPCO customer service
directly at 1-877-737-2662 to confirm your account balance.  PEPCO is aware
of this SCAM and is working with law enforcement to resolve the matter.
Anyone with information related to these SCAMS are asked to contact the
Riverdale Park Police Department, Criminal Investigations Division, at
