Water Fund
The Water Fund was created to help residential customers who are experiencing financial hardship pay their delinquent water/sewer bills. It is funded through the generous donations of customers, community members and WSSC employees. The Salvation Army, in each county, administers the Water Fund. One way we can all easily contribute is through the new RoundUp program (more information below).
The Salvation Army is responsible for determining whether applicants qualify for assistance. The maximum allowable annual award is $300 or less. To apply, you must:
*        Receive water/sewer bills in your name;
*        Apply to the Salvation Army serving the county in which you reside;
*        Present picture identification; and
* Supply proof your income falls within the established threshold. (This threshold is based on nationwide poverty figures for the number of occupants in a household, multiplied by 75%.)

WSSC's RoundUp program offers customers a convenient way to contribute to the Commission's Water Fund. The Water Fund helps our customers who are having a hard time paying their past due water and sewer bills. Customers can "round up" their bill payments to the nearest dollar; the extra change is donated to the Water Fund. Customers can sign up to have their bill automatically calculated with the "round up" or they can check the box on their bill to give a one-time RoundUp donation. Approximately 150 customers a year are helped by the Water Fund.

Bay Restoration Fund Fee
Bay Restoration Fee (BRF): This fee is collected by WSSC on behalf of the State of Maryland in compliance with a 2004 law. This fund is used by the State to improve water quality in the Chesapeake Bay. To determine your eligibility for an exemption of this fee, visit www.wsscwater.com/bayexempt<http://www.wsscwater.com/bayexempt>.
Customer Assistance Program
Customer Assistance Program (CAP): WSSC provides a partial credit for low income residential customers. Eligibility is based upon participation in the Office of Home Energy Program. CAP provides relief for the two components of the Ready-To-Serve Charge and will be shown on a customer bill as one credit. Learn more or check eligibility at www.wsscwater.com/CAP<http://www.wsscwater.com/CAP>.
