Prince George's Board of Elections promotes national voter registration day
Volunteers from all over the country will hit the streets for National Voter Registration Day.
LARGO, MD - On September 27, 2016, volunteers from all over the country will hit the streets for National Voter Registration Day. The Prince George's County Board of Elections and WHUR Radio are joining in this national effort. We will have volunteers ready to register voters on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 between the hours of 3:00PM and 7:00PM at the following four Metro stations in Prince George's County: Addison Road, Cheverly, Prince George's Plaza and Southern Avenue Metro Stations.
In order to register to vote in Prince George's County, individuals must be a U.S. citizen and live in Prince George's County. Also individuals may register to vote if they are at least 16 years old but cannot vote unless they will be at least 18 years old by November 8, 2016. Effective, March 10, 2016, if you have been convicted of a felony and have completed serving a court-ordered sentence of imprisonment, you are eligible to register to vote. You do not qualify to register to vote if you have been convicted of buying or selling votes. The voter registration deadline is Tuesday, October 18, 2016.
"Voters are encouraged to check their voter registration status and update information such as name or address changes to ensure that the information on file at the Board of Elections is the most up to date," said Elections Administrator, Alisha Alexander. Please take this opportunity to register to vote, update your voter information and check your registration status at one of the above Metro Stops.
