Please find attached to this e-mail a copy of both the English and English/Spanish versions of a newsletter  from the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) regarding a virtual public meeting for  its Riverdale Road over Northeast Branch of the Anacostia River bridge replacement project in Prince George's County. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) invites you to attend a virtual pre-construction informational meeting about the Riverdale Road over Northeast Branch of the Anacostia River Bridge Replacement Project, in Prince George's County. Work is scheduled to begin spring 2023. The project should be complete by late 2024.

Project Background and Overview



The purpose of the project is to provide a safe and reliable crossing for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians and enhance community connectivity. The bridge is a dual span, concrete arch bridge constructed in 1931 that serves more than 5,500 vehicles and several hundred pedestrians per day. The bridge crosses the Northeast Branch

of Anacostia River and provides east-west connectivity within the Town of Riverdale Park. While it is structurally safe for travel, the bridge is nearing the end of its useful service life and needs to be replaced. The proposed replacement bridge will include two 11-foot lanes, 5-foot shoulders, and sidewalks on both sides. Replacing the bridge will reduce maintenance costs and support the safety and mobility of motorists and pedestrians. Other improvements include:



* Constructing continuous sidewalks on both sides of the structure and approach

roads for improved pedestrian travel

* Relocating underground and overhead utilities

* Constructing drainage and stormwater management facilities

* Installing high-visibility crosswalks
