<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Whereas, Article V of the Charter only addresses the question of a Runoff Election in connection with the biennial general election of the Mayor and Council,</P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">and, Whereas, a special election may also require a runoff election, </P>
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">Therefore, be it resolved to amend Section 510, Special Elections, by adding the following language: (Added language is shown in italics)</P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">All special town elections shall be conducted by the council in the same manner and with the same personnel, as far as practicable, as set forth in § 508 of this charter. <I style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">If the results of a special election require the town to hold a runoff election, the runoff election shall be held in accordance with the procedures of § 511 with the following exception: the council shall schedule the runoff election to be held no earlier than the twenty-first day, nor later than the thirtieth day following the date of the special election.<o:p></o:p></I></P></DIV></BLOCKQUOTE></body></html>
