[RP TownTalk] Elementary school districts are changing

Are you aware that the elementary school districts are being changed?

If the new proposal is adopted by PG county on Dec 15, children in much
of Ward One that currently attend Riverdale Elementary will soon attend
Paint Branch Elementary. There may be good and bad in the change, that
is for you to decide. It is certainly a good bit further away and will require a
bus ride.

This affects the homes in Ward One that lie between the railroad
tracks and Route One, all the way south to Madison Street and
all the way north into College Park.
 
Some parts of Ward One (west of Route One) now attend University
Park Elementary, and some attend Hyattsville Elementary. These
particular boundaries are not changing in the proposed new plan.
However, the plan is in flux, and this could change.

The next public meeting about this is scheduled for Tuesday Dec 6,
at Nicholas Orem Middle School, 6100 Editors Park Dr, Hyattsville Md.

The Univ Park Elementary school will be massively affected by the proposed changes
and many parents there are actively fighting it. Their PTA has info about it here:
