Could the town rent some or all of the space for a community 
center (and get really good rates as compensation for putting 
up with it being empty so long)?  The town could occassionaly 
sublet rooms to folks who wanted to rent a large space for 
meetings, parties, celebrations, jams, etc.  as well as have a 
base for community-sponsored activities like continuing ed., 
literacy classes, tutoring, etc.  Wouldn't a community game 
night be fun, or a community movie night, like they do at Joe's 
Movement Emporium, once in a while.  Or a regular 
coffeehouse night like Audrey and Simon used to do so well, 
when our dearly belated bookstore was still here.   Activities 
like that would also be good for S&Js and the Aunt Emily's 
Dollhouse, and the Calvert Inn because, like the farmer's 
market, it would bring folks to the Town Center.

It sure would be nice to have a community center.
