Greeting Roland and Heather (and others),
I know an individual who worked on the Hyattsville Gateway project
(including the restoration to PG Plaza and other areas). She, a Hyattsville
Resident, is an economic and development planner, and if I am not mistaken,
she was lead on the redevelopment in the Gateway project. (Her name may
even appear on the Gateway sign..I'm not sure). I have been trying to reach
her for over a week in hopes that she could lend some insight. She is on
vacation and may not return until late next week. I will lend my hand to
help further research in this area. I tend not to get deeply involved in
this type of project until the requirements phase. For me, that is when the
rubber meets the road. In the two previous meetings I have attended on this
project, the requirements presenter has not distributed copies of the
requirements for the meeting participants. I hope this will not be the case
in the future. It is difficult for me to follow the details without the
written requirements in hand.

Welcome Heather,

We don't have a planner for the town; we generally draw on Parks and
Planning for needs in that area. We could do better, and we are
starting to.

Our first stab at detailed planning was the Mixed Use Town Center
Zone, the process for which got started a few years back under the
Herman administration. The MUTC zone recently came into effect, and
we are looking at the very first major development proposals within
the zone right now. You can get a copy of the MUTC vision at the town
offices.

Under the Archer administration, we are taking the first steps toward
a comprehensive marketing plan for the town center area. We are in
the process of hiring a consultant right now for the first phase.
Because we are starting from zero, we have a long way to go before we
can lay out a vision for all of the areas in town.

There are several ways in which we coordinate with Hyattsville. There
is a Route 1 consortium of seven municipalities that formalizes
cooperation on some of those needs. This group has not been very
active lately, but I hear they may be meeting again soon.

If you would like to see the Wachovia development as you describe, you
really should attend the next meeting of the MUTC committee, and urge
them _not_ to accept the development as currently proposed. There is
the very real possibility that this could happen unless the public
makes its voice heard.

Greetings Riverdalians

Below is a list of 24 street lights that I found not working. They will be
reported to PEPCO.

If you know of a lamp that needs reporting that I missed please let me know.

These lights are all located in (or very near) Ward One. Other wards can let
me know of problem lights, and I will pass it alone to get it fixed.

Please look on the pole for the Pepco pole number and note the nearby
address. You may see both old and new pole numbers. The new numbers
have a dash in them. Use the new numbers when reporting a light that is out.

- Rob Oppenheim,
Ward One Council.

These first 3 lights are on East-West highway (410) in the 4700 or 4800
block, on or very near the railroad overpass bridge. They are on the
south side of E-W highway along the east bound lanes.

??Pepco Pole # then description...
1) 819411-9042 E-W highway, near railroad bridge at about 49th Ave
2) 819411-7147 E-W highway, near railroad bridge at about Natoli Pl Ave
??This light cuts on and off.
3) ?no Pepco # E-W highway, tall green pole with no Pepco number.

??of the railroad bridge at the top of the stairs that lead down to Town
??Center stores. Very near the memorial park/cemetery across from the Bill
Board.

These 4 lights are also on E-W highway in the 4700 or 4800 block, on or
very near the railroad overpass bridge. They are on the north side along the
west bound lanes of E-W.

4) 818411-0568 at about 4600 E-W highway.
5) ?no Pepco # on E-W highway on the RR bridge almost directly above the
??RR tracks near Lafayette Ave. It is a tall green pole with no Pepco
??number but has a union mfg co #161927.
6) 819411-9751 at about 4812 E-W highway. This one works but is faint.
