Nancy -- here is the link for the National Trust for Historic Preservation,
regarding historic home plaques:

http://www.nationaltrust.org/help/Historic_Home.pdf

I like your idea, and thought if enough historic homeowners in town were
also interested, we might be able to get an economy of scale discoutn as
well (since we already spent all that money on restoration of our homes ;-)

On a related note...

Has anybody in the neighborhood ever thought about getting one of those
fancy placards that identifies the house as part of a historic district? I
keep going back and forth on whether I think it's pretentious, have decided
that it is, but a little pretension is not a bad thing. Especially when
it's (arguably) a plus for the neighborhood.

Thoughts?

Hi Doug,? Sorry I did not answer your email sooner.? Emily is in charge of
reviving a town preservation group and has some wonderful ideas.? I
offered my home as a meeting place, simply because Emily could not do it
at her home.? It is my understanding that this meeting is to discuss the
reviving of a town preservation group.? This meeting is NOT to protest the
Patriot Group or Dumm's Corner.? This meeting is interested in
preservation and what can be done to preserve the historical significance
of the town.? Emily is in charge of this group and you might contact her
for more information and her ideas.? Thanks.? Audrey Bragg

Due to my disappointment with the current proposal @ Dumm's Corner, I am
posting some features in image form that I am fond of in town.

Neighbors,
Just wanted to assure you that I'm on the verge of repairing the eyesore
that my front steps have become. Nobody has complained to me, but you
certainly would have been justified. I've had a couple of construction
projects in the last few weeks that really beat up the already dilapidated
treads. Now that those projects are done, replacement is in the works. Wood
acquired, hoping that one of us will get to it this weekend.

I hate to suggest things that I have no intention of doing myself. But I
will anyway.

I'm trying to find out more about the Riverdale Park historic district, and
I know I have a lot of stuff at home filed away somewhere. Happened to check
Wikipedia, found a listing of Registered Historic Places in Maryland
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Registered_Historic_Places_in_Maryland
>
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Registered_Historic_Places_in_Maryland.
Of course they list our fair town, but the link says that they have NO
ARTICLE on it! Anybody game to post something?
