[RP TownTalk] Ditto! Rob Oppenheim doing great job! (response to TownTalk Digest, Vol 2, Issue 12 )

Greetings Rob!

Sky and I, too, want to applaude you.  Though I had to chuckle that $200 is
getting paid.  Let's see, that would be about $7 a day for each day of the
month.  You council members and our Mayor deserve an Appreciation Day from
us.  I get a stipend for the business I run, I know the $200 hardly covers
the number of hours and personal money you invest.  So along with Audrey, we
thank you so much.  And I never said Thank You for cleaning off the railroad
tracks.  Anyone of us could have taken that responsibility, but you did it.
(I did not ever see them, even so, I do not know that if I had, would I have
taken the initiatve to clean up the tracks.  I think probably not; I don't
know.  So, thank you again).

To Mayor Archer,
It was good to see you, Guy and Mike Herman at the polls at various times
through the election day.  Not being fresh, but you did look very, very
handsome in your business suit!  And, it was wonderful  to see our Riverdale
Fire Chef and several of the Firemen working the polls, too.  Danielle's
husband, Steve, was a good sport as he continued to let me call him,
Danielle's husband, as he visited with their beautiful daughter! (because at
the time I could not remember Steve's name).  And I even formally met my
neighbors up the street for the first time!  And can't leave out, Gerard
Kiernan--I always enjoy NY talk with Gerry..I almost thought I was in the
wrong town when I got to the polls at 7am and he was not there with
literature in hand, and introducing ALL the candidates and pollsters to each
other.  (That's how I met you, Mr. Mayor).

To TownTalk,
Can the Riverdale Town website address have a footnote or tag line in each
TownTalk?  I always have to hunt for it.  For some reason, it is never easy
for me to find.  I bookmarked it this time, but others might have difficulty
searching for it,too.
Thx for all that you do!

This is a wonderful little Mayberry RFD-kind of town!  We love it!

Just a quick point of clarification.The mayor and council members are paid a
small amount by the Town--$200 per a ward representative per a month and
$400 for the mayor per a month.  This salary has been in effect since 1995.
At the last Council meeting, Councilman Oppenheim introduced legislation,
which the Council approved, that would increase the salaries for the Town's
elected officials.  A copy of the proposed legislation will be in the
upcoming October issue of the Town Crier.

In addition to this change, there has been some discussion on whether
members of the Council should be paid additionally on a per meeting basis.
However, some council members felt that attending meetings should be an
expected part of the job.
