[RP TownTalk] Pedestrian safety

RE the post about crossing the street at Route 1 and
Queensbury; that IS a bad place, and even when I'm
crossing with the light in the crosswalk area, I've
had to dodge people who sail on through the lights.
There are stop signs all along Lafayette Avenue from
where I live on Ravenswood up to the Aerco area -
might as well NOT be stop signs, as it seems very few
people pay any attention to them. However, to be fair,
it's not just here in town, it seems to be a problem
all over - it's not realistic to expect the police to
be everywhere at once, so all of us, both pedestrians
and drivers, need to be aware of our surroundings and
watch out for each other.
