[RP TownTalk] Memorial Day observance - question

This may have been addressed at sometime, but I was
wondering - why is there no "formal" Memorial Day
observance at our memorial like there is for Veterans'
Day, you know, including speakers, maybe a school
band, etc?  Is it because it's a long weekend and
people might not be in town?  I was just wondering.
