Dear friends,

On Wednesday, October 17th, the Dalai Lama will be making a free and 
public address on the west lawn of the Capitol.  Speaker Nancy Pelosi 
just helped pass a bill that has given my organization use of the west 
front of the Capitol to allow for this free event.

We need help in publicizing it because it's less than two weeks away. We 
are asking you to forward this e-mail to as many friends and colleagues 
in the DC area as possible.  If you know of good list serves to post 
this, please do.

OCTOBER 17, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
The Dalai Lama will be making a free and public address on the west lawn 
of the Capitol.
11:00am to 1:00pm - Tibetan dance, opera and song troupes - with over 
250 performers -- will be performing.
1:00pm - The Dalai Lama will be receiving the Congressional Gold Medal 
from Speaker Pelosi, Congressional leadership and the U.S. President in 
the U.S. Capitol Rotunda which will be simulcast on a onto the West Lawn 
of the Capitol. Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel will also speak.
2:20pm - Richard Gere will welcome the crowd.
2:30pm - Speaker Pelosi will escort the Dalai Lama from Capitol to the 
West Lawn, where he will give an address.
Feel free to bring a picnic lunch, blanket or folding chair. There will 
be about 1,000 Tibetans in D.C. for this and it will be a wonderful and 
colorful celebration. Many of the highest lamas and Rinpoches from 
around the world will be attending.
