[RP TownTalk] code and vendors discussion

All,

I had opportunity to chat w/ our Code Enforcement staff today. An
update on the earlier thread:

Lou noted that the town staff had reported at Monday's work session
that the fine for unlicensed ice cream vendors was something in the
range of $25 or $50, but that is apparently outdated info.

Code Staff reports that the fine for unlicensed business activity is
the cost of a business license - $150.  The fine for a municipal
infraction for a mobile vendor is $75.

In the case of flower vendors, unlicensed food vendors, and the like,
the Town is also able to impound property. The Town will confiscate
food, flowers, or other items for sale and can impound vehicles and
push carts. A vendor must prove ownership to retrieve property from
the town.

Code Staff encourages you to call whenever you see this activity - it
springs up constantly. Call 240-508-8460 for Code or 301-927-4343 for
the Police.
