Karen,
You might checkout the house next to me. Just been refurbished; walls, 
windows, baseboard head replacing old radiators, boiler, some electrical 
work, etc. Considering their past experience I know they would love to 
have a responsible renter.

On the plus side, the house has a driveway! (sorry just could resist)
On the minus side, the crazy old coot would be your neighbor.
