I'd definitely contact elected officials, as well as some "higher-up's" in the Postal Service.  AND - if you contact them by mail, I'd most definitely "cc" a copy of the letter to Mrs. Murphy at the Postal Facility.  To be rude or hostile to customers is completely unacceptable, esp. if the public is paying your salary!  Hopefully things will get straightened out.
