GIFFORD’S GIVES WASHINGTONIANS ANOTHER REASON TO VOTE
free hot chocolate on election day

Gifford’s Ice Cream & Candy Co., Silver Spring, MD. – Gifford’s Ice Cream & Candy Co announces they are giving out a free cup of Hot Chocolate to Voters on Election Day.

Anyone who enters a Gifford’s location on November 4th 2008 wearing their “I Voted” sticker will receive a free 12 oz cup of Gifford's Signature Hot Chocolate. Gifford’s is interested in both motivating and thanking Washingtonians with this promotion.

“Exercising our right to vote is one of the most important and fundamental duties we have as US citizens. We are trying to say ‘we don’t care who you choose, we just want you to make a choice’. And then come to Gifford’s for a hot chocolate on us,” explains owner Neal Lieberman.

Gifford’s is the Washington, DC area’s oldest and most storied ice cream and candy company. Since 1938, Gifford’s has been using the finest ingredients to serve homemade super-premium ice cream and candy, with classic rich creamy tastes that hark back to earlier times. The founder, John Nash Gifford, spent years perfecting his recipes to ensure the highest quality and unique flavors, and Gifford’s proudly carries on this tradition.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and actress Goldie Hawn are counted among a long list of loyal Gifford’s fans.

Gifford’s now has six stores in metropolitan Washington - Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Rockville, Fallsgrove, and Hyattsville, MD, and DC at 10th & E Streets, NW – and can be found at Nationals Ballpark, RFK Stadium at DC United games, and University of Maryland football and basketball games. Gifford’s offers factory tours, ice cream socials, birthday parties, gift baskets, ice cream cakes, and corporate gifts. Gifford’s products are also available at the manufacturing facility in Silver Spring, MD and online at www.giffords.com<http://www.giffords.com/>.

Washingtonians can also find their favorite ice cream flavors in pint containers at area Whole Foods Markets and Harris Teeters.
