Melissa--
I would recommend that you speak with Colleen directly. She is the
director of the town's code enforcement department. She is familiar
with both the town and county's regulations for driveways. The key
in a R-55 area (residential single-family neighborhood) is lot
coverage. The county requires that no more than 30% of a lot can be
covered with impervious surfaces. If over, then a variance is
required. If the driveway was done without permit, the case can be
taken to the County's Board of Appeals and a request can be made to
have the driveway removed or changed. But, please speak with Colleen
directly. She can fill you in on the details. Just call her at the
town's offices.
