I just happened upon this article on riverdale park "Patch" online -
i'm only sorry the notice is so late and i believe we're otherwise
engaged this evening. What a shame. And why isn't this event at
Riversdale? That would seem fitting. Nonetheless, it's great that it's
taking place, and that somebody (thank you, Sonia) is getting the news
out.

The Prince George's Historical Society will present a historical
lecture on Riversdale Park, now known as Riverdale Park, Wednesday
evening in Glenn Dale, as the second installment in their lecture
series.
Jane Dodd, lecture coordinator for the society, said as an instructor
at the community college she had a chance to see how a lecture series
like this would interest people.
"It was a successful series there, so I wanted to bring it here," Dodd said.
There will be a total of four lectures in August. One about the port
towns was last Wednesday. The third will focus on Hyattsville
history, and the last will look at the Anacostia watershed.
Doug McElrath, the chair of the Prince George's Heritage, Inc., is
scheduled to speak on Riverdale Park. The group is the official
advisory organization of the Maryland Historical Trust in Prince
George's County.
The lecture will take place at the Marietta House Mansion in Glenn
Dale at 5626 Bell Station Road. The event begins at 6:30 p.m., and it
is free to attend.
Dodd said there will be light refreshments.
