Thanks for the heads-up; that WAS a brazen theft, wasn't it? If they went right
back to the shed and took stuff, it sounds like they had watched the place
beforehand and knew what was in there. Scary.
Pardon my being nitpicky, but I know you didn't mean to say it's ok to call in a
false alarm - I think you can get fined or even arrested for that! That would
be deliberately calling in about a crime/emergency that isn't happening. But
yes, I agree with you 100 percent that if you see something that doesn't look
"right," it's best to call the police and let THEM determine what to do.
Along the same subject of crime; did anyone see a lot of police activity (PG and
Riverdale Park officers) around my apartment building one night about a week
before Thanksgiving? Someone in the building told me that people in 2
apartments were "getting into it" with each other and it escalated to where both
Riverdale and PG Police had to be brought in, said there were police cars all
over the place. I didn't see anything on the crime reports websites, nor in the
Post/Gazette PG Police logs. I didn't know if the person who told me this was
mistaken or what, but if we're getting a lot of fighting, etc., I'd like to
know.
Anyhow, as they used to say on Hill Street Blues, "Let's be careful out there."

Subject: [RP TownTalk] burglary in Ward 2
This morning a dark colored four-door sedan with no front tags and a
light-colored back license tag pulled up next to the back lot of a
house in Ward 2. There were two tall slim men in the car.
First one guy got out and jumped the chain link fence, and then he
came back to the car and another guy got out and they both lept the
fence. They used a crowbar to break the lock of the tool shed and
stole some valuable tools.
The person who saw this called the police as soon as she realized what
was happening, but it happened all so fast that by the time the police
came the thieves were gone.
My friend who called the police is beating herself up because she
feels like she didn't get suspicious soon enough. She was stunned at
how fearless the burglars were.
She asked me to post to the list, and to remind everyone to please
call the police as soon as you see anything suspicious. The police can
determine how to respond when they get your call, but if they don't
get a call, they can't do anything.
Also, remember that it's okay to call in a false alarm. Better to let
the police check out anything suspicious than to let a burglar get
away with stealing.
