Greetings,
For many years, the Riverdale Park Police Department has had a program where
they will keep an especially careful eye on your house while you are on
vacation. A Ward 2 resident contacted me this evening asking whether the
program was still in existence (it is) and how to sign up. When I have used
the program in the past, I've always gone to the Police Station and filled
out a request form, but it seemed that it would be nice to be able to do it
electronically.
I asked Police Chief Chambers about the program this evening, and she and
Code Enforcement Manager Ferguson provided me with information and an
electronic copy of the form.
I've placed this form on the web at
http://www.riverdale-park.org/Misc/2010/RequestPoliceWatchHouseVacation.pdf(Adobe
Acrobat format)
and
http://www.riverdale-park.org/Misc/2010/RequestPoliceWatchHouseVacation.doc(Microsoft
Word format).
Ms. Ferguson was careful to point out that the form should be completely
filled out -- the police need to know what cars to expect to see, whether
someone will be coming in to watch your pets, etc., for the program to be
effective. She also said that if anything changes (coming home early? asked
the neighbor to move that last load of laundry from the washer to the
dryer??) you should contact the police to let them know. Our officers are
nice people who you would probably like to meet, but not when they might
think you are a burglar.
Best regards and happy holidays,
Alan Thompson
Town Council Representative, Ward 2
