I just wanted to let you know about an organic gardening workshop this spring, being taught by Judy Walsh-Mellett in Mt. Rainier.
If you are interested in gardening, Judy is very practical, knowledgeable, and helpful.  Here is the information:


ORGANIC
GARDENING WORKSHOP SERIES   in Mt.
Rainier, MDSaturday
mornings from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the Walsh-Mellett home and
garden in Mt. Rainier, MD  20712  
Feb. 27th:  Garden Planning: choosing a location,
deciding what to plant
March 13th :
Growing Good Soil: composting, fertilizing, cover crops 
March 27th : What
to Plant When: starting seedlings indoors and direct seeding
April 10th :  Double Digging Raised Beds: joys of
the spade and the broad fork
April 17th: The
Growing Season: tips ontransplanting,
tending, watering, harvesting
 
COST:  $125 for the five
series session. Will accept Anacostia Hours or other barter for payment. Workshop

About the presenter: Judy
began gardening with her Dad and sisters in a large home garden in Upstate New
York.  She has gardened in rural Kentucky
and Urban DC and has tended her Mt. Rainier garden for over 20 years.  Judy received her “Master Gardener”
certification through the DC Cooperative Extension Service in 1994, trained as
a volunteer at the US National Arboretum in 1997, and attended Ecology Actions
“Sustainable Mini-Farming Course” in 2000.
