[RP TownTalk] purple line

they will have to build extra lanes to accommodate the train. Also, according to
the state, they will have to build a sound barrier wall.

the amount of space tat will take up means houses and businesses lost in
Riverdale.
Also, it will affect park land.
Until recently, the Purple line site showed plans for a bridge or under ground
tunnel going through our park.

As of today, they only show the station stops. That includes the stop that will
wipe out st Bernard's, the shell station and the vet on

Riverdale Road.

 From Wiki:
Light rail or light rail transit (LRT) is a form of urban rail public
transportation that generally has a lower capacity and lower speed than heavy
rail and metro systems, but higher capacity and higher speed than traditional
street-running tram systems. The term is typically used to refer to rail systems
with rapid transit-style features that usually use electric rail cars[1]
operating mostly in private rights-of-way separated from other traffic but
sometimes, if necessary, mixed with other traffic in city streets. Modern light
rail technology is flexible and adaptable, and whether any given system is
considered a true rapid transit system or not depends on its characteristics

Our Metro system is: A rapid transit, metro(politan), subway, underground, or
elevated railway system is an electric passenger railway in an urban area with
high capacity and frequency, and which is grade separated from other
traffic.[2][3] Rapid transit systems are typically either in underground tunnels
or elevated above street level. Outside urban centres, rapid transit lines
sometimes run grade separated at ground level.

No, Metro isn’t light rail. Light rail can run with pedestrians and traffic like
a trolley. It isn’t fast or noisy.

Apparently many of you have not listened to the Red Line as it passes Lake
Artemesia.  It's quite loud (sqealing wheels, staccato from the wheels going
over the welds in the tracks, horn when the train approaches a tunnel or
station) and you often get fireworks when the electrical power contacts
frequently make and break connnection with the third rail.  So not only do you
get the noise, you get the high intensity flashes of light 24/7.

Don't believe me?  Take a walk around Lake Artemesia rather than relying on a
web link to provide you with information.

P.S.  Metro is light rail.

Bruce
