Mayor neighbor,
I'm confused here... shouldn't the town be discussing weather or not the property will be rezoned... where the whole foods is located is kind of putting the cart before the horse.
There are still a lot of citizens who do not think the property should be rezoned from residential to commercial use. Until it is rezoned Whole Foods or any other business can not lease property or build on that location.

Subject: [RP TownTalk] Executive Session
Friends and neighbors,
I would like to address, and hopefully ease some concerns about the executive session I called for tonight. The stated reason for this meeting is to discuss the location of the Whole Foods in Riverdale Park and that, and only that, will happen tonight.
Any specific proposals that may come from the meeting--and I certainly hope there will be some--will be publicly circulated for comment and review. We, as elected leaders have been very open to public input, have listened to, and read all of the input from every position on this matter to date. It is now time, and the council's duty, to sit down and evaluate all of that input and decide what we believe is the best way to lead the town on this matter. The first step cannot be effectively done in open forum and that is why state law provides for such executive sessions; however, any proposals must indeed stand the bright light of the public before becoming official town policy.
At the next work session the proposal(s) (if any actually come out of the meeting) will be discussed in open forum and if there is need for legislative action, that action will come at the October legislative meeting, or at a later meeting still.
Sincerely,
Vern
