[RP TownTalk] Urgent Request - The State Budget and our county

Neighbors,
There are a lot of requests for action on this issue going around, so I'll try to be brief. Under the current "Doomsday" budget, Prince George's County Public Schools will see $51 million in cuts. Needless to say, the consequences would be terrible whether you have children or not. 

Please read the following brief message and send it or some variation of it to Governor Martin O’Malley, Senate President Mike Miller, House Speaker Mike Busch, and your delegates. Their contact information follows. Calling would help too. Please do this today (or as soon as you can). There are reasons for the county (i.e., budget milestones) that it's important that the Special Session happen immediately.

The current Maryland state budget has hundreds of millions of dollars in harmful cuts to schools, local libraries, law enforcement, higher education, and more. These “Doomsday” cuts will be particularly devastating to Prince George’s County Public Schools, which will see $51 million in cuts, resulting in larger class sizes, program cuts, and significant position reductions.
Please go into a special session, reverse these “Doomsday” cuts, and protect our public schools and other State priorities. It’s particularly important that this happen well before the July trigger date so that our local schools can effectively and efficiently budget for the next school year.
