A glittering resume and the support of the entire District 22 delegation to
the Maryland General Assembly were not enough for Kisha Brown, as
Hyattsville resident Alonzo Washington rode an inspiring up-from-poverty
life story and the patronage of recently departed Delegate Justin Ross to
overwhelmingly win the endorsement of the Prince George's County Democratic
Central Committee and appointment by Md. Governor Martin O'Malley as the
district's newest State Delegate. Read about Washington's stunning victory
in the December issue of the *Hyattsville Life & Times*:

Also in the December issue:

How Mike Franklin, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Franklins
Restaurant, Brewery and General Store, went from reading Aristotle at St.
John's College to leading a Route 1 Renaissance; the Prince George's County
Public Schools plan to move 6th graders from elementary schools to middle
schools next fall; a federal grant that's helping local homeowners save
money on their energy bills; a state grant that may help Hyattsville build
a parking garage in its Arts District; the story of the "Mencken of
Bladensburg"; and more.
