What kind of wildlife do you associate with winter? The Anacostia River watershed
is full of animals that have found unique ways to survive the cold winter months.
Brown bullhead catfish move deeper below the river's surface as the temperature 
drops. Eastern painted turtles and snapping turtles make warm homes deep in the 
river's mud. Beavers shift their diets and begin eating the inner bark of trees,
 and white-tailed deer grow warm undercoats and search for food in unexpected places
-- maybe even your yard!
All of the Anacostia watershed's creatures need homes -- just like we do. Your support
enables the Anacostia Watershed Society to restore needed wildlife habitat. We are
rebuilding wetlands and meadows, and planting trees with the help of thousands of
community volunteers and supporters like you.
