I just learned about a wonderful new service for families who suspect
their child (age 6 and under) might have autism. The team of providers
that Rich Weinfeld has gotten together for this endeavor are
absolutely top notch, and the promise of an evaluation within 6 weeks
is unheard of (usually it takes 6 months to a year!)
If you, or someone you know, thinks their child might have autism,
please pass this information along.

The Weinfeld Education Group (WEG) is pleased to announce the opening
of a multidisciplinary autism evaluation clinic for children age birth
through six years. The program will serve families in the D.C.
metropolitan area, including the Maryland and Virginia suburbs.
When you suspect that your child may have autism, it can be
overwhelming to figure out which experts to see and what to do if you
receive differing information. In an effort to make the process more
focused and family-friendly, WEG brings together specialists from many
disciplines to evaluate a child together, providing the family with
one report. After consultation with a lead psychologist, your child
will receive evaluations from all appropriate experts. This may
include specialists in the fields of:
· Psychology
· Developmental Pediatrics
· Occupational Therapy
· Speech-Language Therapy
· Physical Therapy
· Behavior (including experts in Applied Behavioral Analysis)
· Assistive Technology
Throughout the process, families will also have access to the services
of a family navigator to help guide them and answer questions. WEG is
committed to providing the multi-disciplinary assessment within six
weeks of the first call from parents.
Spanish speaking services are available, as well as help with
transportation to and from appointments.
