Dear Citizen,
I would like to invite you to our Presidents' Day Wine & Cheese Reception, coming up this Sunday at 2:00 pm.

The affair is casual and we will have light snacks, refreshments, music and door-prizes too.

The event will be held on Sunday, February 19th  .  2-4 p.m. at the Town Center (upstairs)

Author, Don Lynch will be there to sign copies of "Riverdale Park-Images of America" on behalf of the Historical Association of Riverdale Park (HARP), plus, copies of "Berwyn Heights: Then & Now" and the recently published "Greenbelt-Images of America" will also be available.

One or more of these books will be offered as a door prize, as well as, a pair of tickets to the March 9th performance of "The Perilous Fight" by the New Old Theatre/Old Parish House in College Park. Several BHHC committee members will be attending this play about "the War of 1812 as told in ballad and anthem."

This past Halloween (2011) the Historical Association of Riverdale Park had a Ghost tour of Riverdale Park that visited 12 sites in town that are "Haunted".
This is a wonderful way to explore and understand the history of our town. We are planning to continue this for October 2012.

Actually Nancy, this organization is having some discussion about a "haunted" tour of some type.  We have the Excorcist house in Cottage City (or Mount Rainier), Bostwick in Bladensburg, several spots on the Universty campus, and I'm sure more that I'm not thinking about right now.  We actually are thinking of modeling it on the successful Riverdale Park holiday lights tour - if we do it.  We are thinking that it could potentially be in 2013 if there is enough interest.

Thanks to all who chipped in so much information about the ERCO building. I can't wait to tell my 7-year-old stepson that it's not haunted (his default explanation for anything that looks out of place), it used to be a very important place and another good reason for us to be proud of our community.
