Crunchy leaves, check. Crisp air, check. Comfy sweater, check. It's official - fall has arrived! Enjoy some of the season's favorite traditions, like cider, harvest walks, and spooky stories at Riversdale!

In December 1812, the Brothers Grimm published their first collection of tales. These aren't your children's bedtime stories and far from the happily-ever-afters we think of today! On Sunday, October 29, celebrate the 200th anniversary of these tales at A Grimm Gothick Evening. Participants, ages 12 & up, will enjoy a guided tour of the grounds by the light of the (almost!) full moon with selected readings. End the evening in the dependency kitchen with warm cider by the fire. Walks will be offered at 6:30 & 7:30 pm and registration is required by October 22. In the event of rain, program will be moved inside.
$10 residents; $12 non-residents.

Apples are a staple of the season - from apple picking to apple pie to caramel apples to cider! Riversdale continues its ode to fall with Tasting the Past: A Cider Sampler, on Saturday, November 10, at 2 pm. Guests ages 21 & up, cozy up at Riversdale with a guided tasting of a variety of hard ciders from Crispin Cider<http://www.crispincider.com/> paired with historically-inspired foods and receive a souvenir glass. Registration required by November 2.
$15 residents; $18 non-residents.

Space is also still available for our Friday, October 19, Hands-on History: A Day in the Federal City program. If you're still wondering what you're doing with the kids on the day off from school, Riversdale's got you covered! From 10 am- 3pm, kids ages 8-12 will experience what it would have been like to travel into Washington, DC, in the early 1800s. Participants will discover the sights, sounds, and people of the Capitol City through a variety of crafts, activities, and hands-on cooking. Registration required by Monday, October 15.
$15 residents; $18 non-residents.
