Journey to the Gyres
With your help, we remove a lot of trash from the Anacostia River and its surrounding
neighborhoods. But what happens to the trash that gets through? Much of it finds
 its way to the ocean, where it circulates in gyres. You've probably heard of the
Great Pacific Garbage Patch, but did you know there is another one in the North 
Atlantic?
The team from 5 Gyres [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001_HG9XJ9SkqiNIGg7yP17p2MoA784PhJ45rqTOfat9Pb1DNpntFu2WUB_a5Z7-LqrzD9cBKmjQFq6vmEAhUZMd-j40HFgSLoqnDw0VNhqEDo=]
is currently biking 1400 miles along the East Coast to educate people about ocean
trash as a global problem, and inspire local action against it. Join 5 Gyres and
 the Anacostia Watershed Society next Tuesday, October 23, from 3 to 5 pm at the
 National Aquarium in DC for a photographic journey to the world's oceanic garbage
patches.
