Dear Friend,
Since Thursday October 25, the entire state of Maryland has been under a
state of emergency. Hurricane Sandy is fast approaching and forecasters
predict that it will be a large, violent storm that could knock out power
for a few days and cause significant damage.

*This is a serious, killer storm. It's important that everyone is vigilant.

Please start planning today and make sure you and your family are safe. For

Due to the storm, we are canceling early voting on Monday October 29, 2012.
We are also implementing liberal leave for all non-essential state
employees.

As of noon today, the following areas have a required mandatory evacuation:

   - Ocean City -- 17th Street South and known flood prone areas
   - Worcester -- all waterfront properties in the county

The following areas have voluntary evacuations in place:

   - Smith Island
   - Crisfield
   - Somerset County: low-lying areas
   - Ocean City: island wide
   - Wicomico: all low lying areas around Naticoke
   - Tablot: low-lying areas
   - St. Mary's: low-lying areas
   - City of Annapolis: low-lying
   - Queen Anne's: low-lying

The following schools will be closed on Monday October 29th.

   - Kent County
   - Cecil County
   - Howard County
   - Baltimore City
   - Worcester County
   - Somerset County
   - Prince George's County
   - Queen Anne's County

**This is as of 1PM today. Please check with your local schools for more
information**
