Subject: Beginning of State Highway Administration Work at Route 1 and East
West Highway, with temporary Lane Closures



For your information, the State Highway Administration has announced that
they will shortly begin work to construct a new left turn lane on
northbound US 1 approaching MD 410 beginning at the intersection of US 1
and Queensbury Road to just north of MD 410. Crews will also replace curb
and gutter along southbound US 1, upgrade curb ramps and sidewalks for
Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, improve roadway drainage
and re-position the traffic signals to match up with the new left turn
lane. SHA will also patch and resurface US 1 and install new pavement
markings. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times throughout the
project. Signs, construction barrels and cones, arrow boards and flaggers
will be used to direct pedestrians and traffic within the work zone.



SHA will intermittently close lanes on weekdays between 9 am and 3 pm on
East-West Highway, and on US 1 between 9 am and 3 pm weekdays and
overnight, Sunday through Thursday, 9 pm to 5 am.

They expect the work will be completed by “late Fall.”
