> · Edward P. Day has shown unique dedication to the story of the War of 1812. The staff of Riversdale House Museum, a Maryland National-Capital Park and Planning Commission site, have worked hard to make sure that history is told in an engaging and enlightening way. Ed, in his role as Site Manager, has also helped lead the work of the Battle of Bladensburg Task Force and spearheaded the annual Battle of Bladensburg Tactical held each year at Riversdale House Museum. He has worked hard with a variety of stakeholders to help move the development of a Battle of Bladensburg Monument along, to help ensure the development of a Visitors Center at Waterfront Park, and to continue to promote the story of the War of 1812 in the county and especially within the Heritage Area. This dedication to the cause of heritage tourism has earned him our Special Award for Heritage Tourism.
