Here's a little fairy tail for you  from me .... Just supposin'...
The day has come when the dust settles and the Cafritz property is developed. Still, the  10000 pound gorilla in the room remains how to get in and out of the place. It's sort of like the game of how does the bear get over the mountain?

Turns out the idea of a bridge over the CXS line is not possible, for numerous reasons that are obvious to any average Joe, especially the ones who live on the Lafayette side of the tracks.

There is a right of way through the property at Tuckerman street, on the Rt. 1 side. The problem with that access is it involves the cross county trolley line bike path. In order to use this rout as access park and planning would have to be involved. And Park and planning is saying "un,un ", at least for right now.

Well what about going out through Rhode Island Ave. and turning on to QueensBury?
No way. Traffic is already a nightmare. Too much objection form too many fronts, state,other municipalities, citizens etc...

So What to do?

Well there is one more way out to Rt. 1. That's where Jey's property comes in to the picture.
There already is a traffic light on that corner. If the town owns the property, well then they would not have to go to park and planning for permission to make that a major intersection for the 3000+ cars that  need access to Cafritz apartment complex and food shoppers ware house.

A new rout to the property could be established from the Cafritz property, through the Jamal parking lot, down Rhode Island Avenue. The town owns DuPont circle, so that would be demolished for a nice wide access road.
Your guess is a s good as mine as to what they would do with the Cannon on the circle that came off the USSS Hulbert, the first ship to fire on the Japanese aircraft attacking Pearl Harbor and named after former citizen of Riverdale Park Henry Lewis Hulbert....

Call me silly, call me a dreamer, but that's my little supposin' about why the town may want to own Mr. Jey's property.

Melissa
