The *Riverdale Park Arts Council *on Thursday debuts the first in an
occasional series of live performances, billed as “RPAC Presents” with *
Brulee* unveiling its new compact disc, “To A Crisp,” on the patio of Town
Center Market. The jazz-infused, Americana-marinated alternative-pop
foursome, featuring Riverdale Park’s own Andrew Brown on upright-up base,
will begin at 5 pm and play until 7 in conjunction with the final
installment of the Winter Farmer’s Market which is open 3-to-7 pm.

The new CD is getting plenty of attention. A feature article in the Feb. 1,
2013 Washington City Paper called “In Defense of a Blue Shower Curtain” a
“standout track” that “begins with an upright bass riff, gloriously
strummed by Andrew Brown, then proceeds to a mellow jazz-rock grove from
guitarist Louis Matza and drummer Lex O’Brien. The hooky chorus – whose key
makes an unusual shift downward from the verse – is a plea with the titular
curtain for renewal.”

“RPAC Presents” will include new film screenings and other entertainment
performances at a series of venues throughout the town year round. RPAC is
also calling for artists, crafters, authors and food-beverage vendors to
participate in the sixth annual ArtsFest2013, May 5, 11 am to 5 p.m. in
Town Center at the MARC Station, 4650 Queensbury Road. Brulee will also
perform that day along with the Rodney Kelley Jazz Experience, the Smokin’
Polecats, members of the Archie Edwards Blues Heritage Foundation, and the
Parkdale Jazz Ensemble. Some five-dozen artists and authors are expected
that day along with a dozen Vintage Vehicles and tons of great food and
drink. For more information, see www.rpartscouncil.org/

*Riverdale Park Arts Council has a partnering agreement with the
Hyattsville Community Development Corporation, a 501c3 organization, that
allows RPAC to benefit from tax deductible donations.*
