Prince George's County Wants your Old Tires at Scrap Tire Amnesty Day

November 24 recycling event promotes proper disposal of unwanted tires

Largo, MD - The Prince George's County Department of Environmental
Resources' (DER) Waste Management Division will hold a free, Scrap Tire
Amnesty Day on Sunday, November 24 at the Brown Station Road Convenience
Center in Upper Marlboro. County residents are encouraged to bring any
residential or agricultural tires, up to ten, for collection at the event.
Tires will not be accepted from businesses or dealers and participants must
bring proof of County residency.

"Dumping tires in the woods or on the side of the road is harmful to the
environment, contributes to blight in our communities and is illegal," says
DER Director Adam Ortiz. "Our scrap tire recycling event will allow
residents the opportunity to dispose of unwanted tires in a responsible
manner."

Tires collected from Scrap Tire Amnesty Day may be recycled into usable
products such as garden hoses, rubberized asphalt and playground cover
