Just wanted to pass along the word-- Community Forklift is throwing an all-day family-friendly celebration for Small Business Saturday with live music, free food, and a photo op with Santa between 11-2pm tomorrow. Local artists will be there to host free workshops and sell their crafts made from recycled goods at a Green Gift Fair. Riverdale Park's own Sue Older-Mondeel will also be there to exhibit her incredible talent in "upcycling" furniture. She will also have pieces to sell.

FREE WORKSHOPS

Instead of spending money at the chain stores, why not make
presents for your loved ones? During
morning and afternoon workshops, local artists will help you create
eco-friendly handmade gifts for the season!
Learn how to make jewelry, woodcrafts, recycled paper gifts, and more
(full schedule below).

COMMUNITY CRAFTING

Throughout Friday & Saturday, have a seat at our crafting
table and get to know your neighbors.
Folks of all ages can drop by to make gift wrap, ornaments, and
decorations for the holiday season.

4th ANNUAL GREEN GIFT FAIR

Find great gifts
for friends and family made locally and sustainably! Over 30 local crafters and artists
are exhibiting at Community Forklift throughout November and December. All gifts are made with reclaimed, upcycled,
or other eco-friendly materials. Gifts for sale include metalwork,
jewelry, textiles and clothing, beauty care, stained glass mosaics, stationary,
posters, woodwork, candles, toys and baby gear, housewares, and more.

MUSIC

A variety of local musicians will be caroling during the
celebration. Join in to sing your
favorite holiday tunes, or just relax with a cup of hot cider and enjoy the
music.

FREE PICTURES WITH SANTA

Santa Claus often stops by Community Forklift to find low-cost
tools for his elves. “I can find vintage
wood-carving tools at the Forklift, and they’re a lot sturdier than modern hand
tools” reports Mr. Claus. “So when the staff asked if I could stop by their
party, I was happy to help.” Santa will
be at the warehouse from 11am-2pm on Friday and Saturday, and photos will be available
afterwards on the Forklift’s Facebook page.

SHOP SMALL

Shopping at locally-owned retailers is a wise investment in your
community. Small businesses contribute
more money to the local economy, create the most jobs, and provide more support
to local nonprofits. To encourage you to
“shop small” this holiday season, Community Forklift has compiled a guide to
locally-owned shops and cafés nearby (many of which will be offering special
Small Business Saturday discounts).

Community Forklift’s large warehouse is located in
the Port Towns area of Prince George’s County, between Kenilworth Ave and Route
1 in the town of Edmonston. The thrift
store will be open from 10am – 6pm on Friday Nov. 29th, and 9am –
6pm on Saturday Nov. 30th.
Directions and a full schedule of events can be found at www.CommunityForklift.org.
