[RP TownTalk] Stop work order on downtown rehab?

Fred -

To add in my two cents. There were a series of permits that were applied for (but never followed through with) in 2007 and 2008 in regards to electrical, structural etc. work on the main building. The 'Stop Work' order is in regards to the work being currently done on the Bikram Yoga Studio. I.e. a tenant fit-out cannot happen until the main building is deemed up-to-code. Dannielle Glaros, Councilman Olson, the town, Douglas Development, and the Yoga Studio have been in constant communication and everyone is doing everything possible to see that the process is expedited and at some point in time the work and/or inspections for the Yoga Studio and the main building are allowed to proceed in tandem.

As frustrating as what this is, ultimately a building that passes code and is safe for tenants is preferable over businesses opening up early in an unsafe building. I have been in weekly contact with the owner of the Yoga Studio to ensure the town and County is doing everything they can to ensure her tenancy is preserved. At this point the progress is in the hands of Douglas Development who is jumping through the numerous hoops the County has specified it requires. Their team is hard at work but they are trying to squeeze a few months' worth of work into a few weeks. Doable yes, but difficult from a phasing point of view.

Best,

Jonathan
