[RP TownTalk] Beat the rain - Bostwick, May 4 - 12 to 4pm

We know the rain is still coming down. We know that you are ready to get out of the house. Well, we have a program you won't want to miss on Sunday - because the day will be 68 and sunny. 

Bostwick, a rarely open historic house in Bladensburg, will have the grounds open for a great festival. Plus, we will have special tours of the first floor of the house for those who have been wondering about all the working going on there. Everything runs from Noon until 4pm. Please note, there is NO parking onsite, so plan on a short walk from the nearby parking lots. The address is 3300 48th Street, Bladensburg (around the corner from Peace Cross Memorial and, for the long time residents, the old Roy Rogers/Mango Cafe). Look for parking signs. 

Activities scheduled:

Piscataway Dancers (3:30)
Farm Animals (including goat from Anacostia Watershed Society)
18th Century Games led by Millers Early American Games
Arts Vendors from the Arts District
Calvert Arundel Swordsmen as Barney's Irregulars showing the best of sword fighting in 1812
Black Powder Rifle Demonstrations (Hourly)
Blue Sky Puppet Theater with their 1812 themed puppet show (2pm and 3pm) 
Homespun Ceilidh Band (12:30 and 1:15)
Traditional Trades demonstrations 
Information Booths from local groups
1812 themed hike to Lowndes Hill (4:00)

Simple Pleasures Ice Cream and a variety of light snacks (popcorn, chips, bottled drinks) will be for sale. 

We would be remiss if we didn't note that also happening that day is Arts Fest in Riverdale Park a great day of artists and fun in Riverdale Park Town Center. You can certainly make both programs and we encourage you to do that. It will be an epic day in the Heritage Area. Don't miss it!
