*Prince George's County Launches Youth at Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program
(SYEP) for 2014*



*LARGO, MD -* The Prince George's County Government, together with the
Prince George's Community College (PGCC), the Greater Prince George's
County Business Roundtable, the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce,
the Prince George's County Public Schools and The Maryland-National Capital
Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), seek enthusiastic and dedicated
students to participate in the County's Youth at Work/Summer Youth Enrichment
Program (SYEP) for 2014.  Prince George's County Government is offering a
six-week, entry-level introduction to public service for youth ages 15 - 19
who reside in Prince George's County. This initiative will provide
enriching and constructive summer work experiences in various departments
and agencies throughout County Government.



"We are committed to ensuring that our youth are engaged in meaningful
activities during the summer months," said Prince George's County Executive
Rushern L. Baker, III. "Job opportunities for youth equate to more than
just giving them something to do and earning extra cash; these
opportunities educate and inspire them to think about their future careers,
introduce them to potential mentors, and provide memories and lessons that
last a lifetime.  I am grateful to the Prince George's County Office Of
Human Resources Management, PGCC, PGCPS, M-NCPPC, along with the Business
Roundtable and Chamber of Commerce, for their collaboration and support of
this critical program.  As vested stakeholders to the future of this
County, we must invest in our youth now and do everything in our power to
provide economic and educational opportunities to them."



In order to provide employment opportunities to as many youth as possible,
youth will be able to work a maximum of two years in the Summer Youth
Enrichment Program (SYEP). Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply. In
order to qualify for the County Government's Program, applicants must be a
resident of Prince George's County and between the ages of 15 and 19 by
June 30, 2014. Only on-line applications will be accepted. Applications
must be submitted no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST) on
March 21, 2014. More information can be found at
