30 Days for 200 years
of history!
Come and commemorate
the 200th Anniversary of the Battle of Bladensburg with MAJOR events in the next 30
days! Both provide fun, family oriented activities that everyone will love!
On July 26th from Noon
until 3pm, Riversdale House Museum (4811 Riverdale Road, Riverdale Park, MD)
will host "Muster the Militia" with tours and activities. This
program is part of a weekend of programs on Saturday and Sunday throughout the
metro area sponsored by the DC War of 1812 program
(http://www.dcwarof1812.org/) .
After the history,
you’re invited to become a part of Bursting in Air, a festive, one-of-a-kind
event where artists will transform the Hyattsville Route 1 Overpass into a
captivating landmark through public art and festivities that commemorate the
200th Anniversary of the March Across Prince George’s County, the War of 1812,
and the growing Art Lives Here Initiative in the Gateway Arts District, all
from 3pm to 8pm.
Join us for live music
and performances, live public art on the bridge itself, food, drinks, kids
activities, and two artist-instructed Citizen-Paint-Project murals. Free and
open to all ages, festivities will begin at 3pm with performances starting at
5pm, running until “the twilight’s last gleaming” at 8pm with 1814: The Rock Opera
(http://1814therockopera.com/) . (Rain date: Saturday, August 2nd, 2014.)
