Always move with caution when entering a flooded basement. Be aware of where
your electrical receptacles are located. If the water level is higher than
the receptacles or the gas pilot light on your hot water heater or furnace,
call the fire department and your utility provider.

When entering a flooded basement always treat it as if the water is
contaminated. Although the storm water and sewer water systems are not
connected outside your home, the flood waters in your basement may have
risen high enough to mix with the sewer water inside your home (toilets).
Also be aware that other items kept in your basement that may appear
harmless may not react well in water. Always change clothes and clean
thoroughly after being in floodwater.

If you think you do have a sewer problem please don't hesitate to contact
WSSC's emergency phone number on 301-206-4002. They will send an inspector
out to your home to check out your problem and their sewer system.
