[RP TownTalk] Breakins and general safety

Friends and neighbors,

As has been reported to the list and elsewhere there has been 4 burglaries
reported in and Ward 2 between Taylor and 51st since June 15. Police have
stepped up patrols in the area and are actively investigating leads.  At
times like this it is important for residents to redouble efforts to follow
what is good practice all the time and everywhere:

1. The most important thing is for residents to call police right away at
301-927-4343 if you see suspicious activity. They are always available and
will respond to the needs of residents. The more involvement we get from
the community, the more effective the police can be.

2.  Secure your homes when you leave for any reason, including locking
windows as well as doors.

3.  When you leave town for vacation, please call the Police Deparment for
a premises check while you are away. We all pay for this service through
our taxes; take advantage of it!
4. Home security surveys are a beneficial way for residents to have their
residences evaluated by our Police Department. This can be done at your
convenience by again calling 301-927-4343.
