May 8 - Tomorrow's afternoon weather will be cloudy with a high of 83 with
between 32% and 36% rain chance, we'll take it. Hold onto your hats and
your tents, folks. Get outside and enjoy our full complement
of market products as we build toward our full complement of farmers and
other vendors. Get your asparagus, apples, greens, flowers, plants,
pastured meats, free range hen eggs, artisan aged goat and raw milk cheeses
while we enjoy the transition to Spring. Don't miss it! Many new and
enticing products will be coming to the market this year! Come and enjoy
the festive early Spring atmosphere! Evening hours are fun at the market!
We look forward to seeing you Thursdays from 3pm to 7pm at the Riverdale
Park Town Center, rain or shine.
New for this week:
This week, the RPFM Fruit & Pickle Stand will be offering a special treat
for our Number One Sons pickle fans who like a milder pickle: Half Sours;
in addition, we have a new stock of Krauts, lots of Kale Chi & Kim Chi, and
a bounty of Kicky Kosher pickles. We're also offering fresh cider, Cameo &
Fuji Apples, more Apple Sauce, and delicious Apple Schnitz for your
enjoyment.
Musachio Produce will be making their first appearance of the season with
their customary first crops of potted flowers & asparagus, and maybe
strawberries.
Here's what ECO City Farms is selling at market this week: Spring mix,
spicy mix, radish, turnips, spinach, carrots & pac choi.
Boxers Rest Farm will be offering spinach, mesclun mix, arugula, spicy
salad, red kale, and tatsoi this week.
Jack Creek Plants will have more tomato varieties this week, including
heirlooms. Basil and cilantro plants will be around too.
Shine Massage & Wellness will be back with chair massages this week (Sorry,
no more freebies).
Simple Pleasures Ice Cafe is back in town this week.
Mystic Water Soap will be absent this week due to preparations for the
Green Man Festival in Greenbelt, MD.
We're not sure about our musician this week due to an unconfirmed
appearance.
Going Strong:
Migue's Magnificent Mini Donuts is back after a one year sabbatical.
Welcome back Migue!
Here's a message from Groff's Content Farm & a recipe: We have lots of
eggs. Berkshire Pork is still on special but we are coming to the end of
it. Chops, shoulder, spare ribs and loin roast are available. Off the
special we also have: bacon, pastured lamb, free range chicken, and many

Red Chimney Farm will have the following for this week: Spirea, Pussy
Willow, Fasciated Willow, and new for this succulent plants. Do come over
and check out Suzanne's exciting new direction.
Bonaparte Breads will be back this week with their great artisan breads
made with organic flour and superb Parisian style baked goods.
Geppetto Catering BBQ will be back with their delicious slow cooked
sustainable meats.
Shine Massage & Wellness will be back next week.
Zeke's Coffee of DC will have:
their normal coffees plus Costa Rican Tarrazu La Pastora. Ask them about
the new roastery on Rhode Island Avenue, NE.
Eat Fresh Maryland and the market are continuing to offer incentives for
folks using SNAP, WIC, Seniors, and Fruit & Vegetable Checks and will
accept these forms of payment @ the market. We will also be accepting both
debit and credit transactions for a $1 fee.
Stone Hearth Bakery will be back with their great line of European style
artisan breads, pastries, and cookies
Going, going, gone!
* Cakes by Ruthann has decided to concentrate on larger farmers markets for
her products. When you see her, wish her well. We'll miss you.
Coming Soon:
Blades Orchard will be back as soon as their berries are ripe,
approximately two weeks.
Number One Sons is having trouble getting to the market this month but the
market stand will have limited quantities of their products available.
Important Notices:
Food safety notice: Due to a preponderance of evidence, and our county's
health department regulations, dogs are no longer welcome at
the farmers market. We regret the loss but hope that our dog owning
customers will forgive us for this change.
Important note about parking: only parallel parking is allowed on Maryland
Ave (the road that passes under East-West Highway) -- please do not park in
any other manner.
