Thanks to your generosity, the Anacostia Watershed Society tackled our goals and
 made tremendous progress in 2014. Your support was critically important. Thank 
you!

Just look at these examples. This is what your support made real last year...

We connected nearly 2,000 students and their teachers to the Anacostia River with
hands-on classroom work, field visits and restoration projects that are helping 
the Anacostia River come back to life.

We empowered thousands of volunteers as they planted trees and 1,283 wetland plants,cleaned
up over 48 tons of trash, built new beds at our native plants nursery and gathered
seeds for next year's sprouts.

We hosted 20 free Paddle Nights - our weekly summer evening opportunity to jump 
in a kayak or canoe and explore the river. We also launched our new Safari Series
with guided tours. We welcomed over 800 people to the river to experience what a
 cleaner, healthier Anacostia has to offer.

We installed hundreds of square feet of rain gardens and facilitated over 44,000
 square feet of new green roofs on buildings in DC. These and other 'green infrastructure'
solutions will keep 2.5 million gallons of polluted runoff from entering the Anacostia
River each year.

We pushed for policies that remove the trash and pollution that have plagued the
 Anacostia. One big win this year was the DC ban on polystyrene take-out food containers
signed into law in July.
