A welcome note from your List Moderator

I noted over the weekend we have several new subscribers. And there have
been quite a few over the last month or two as well. This is wonderful! So
welcome to you all!

A personal reflection: My wife and I have lived here in Riverdale Park for
9 years now (hard to believe), and it's been wonderful to see the many new
faces, particularly younger faces with children in the last year or two. I
spend time in the garden and it seems like every time I'm out (not so much
recently, will this winter never end???) I see people I haven't seen before
out walking, or biking, walking their dogs, or with their kids in
strollers....

Once upon a time this list was more active than it has been recently.  I,
for one, am hoping that it too (like our town) will become more active,
reflecting the new energy in our community! (Maybe this listserv should
start going to Bikram Yoga?!? ;-) So please feel free to talk it up, and
also invite your friends and neighbors to subscribe!

Anyway, a long winded way to say "Hello and welcome to the list!" - I hope
you'll find this list useful and that you'll feel free to post when you
have questions, comments, observations, things to share, etc.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The way the list is set up, when you are a new subscriber,
your posts won't go straight through to the list, they'll get put in the
queue requiring me to approve them and send them on to the list.  If I do
my job right and clear your "moderated status" at that point, this will
only happen that one time.  After that, your posts should go directly
through to the list.

WITH ONE EXCEPTION -  IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL MEMBERS OF THE LIST: If
your message is over a certain size (almost any attachment (photo or PDF)
will trigger this), it will require my approval before it is distributed to
everyone.  I try to check the admin queue at least once a day to see if
there are messages needing approval (amongst the hundreds and hundreds of
spam messages that I have to discard).  If anyone posts something with an
attachment that is time sensitive (lost cats, community event
announcements, etc.) please feel free to give me a heads up (at my personal
address which you can see in the headers) and I'll be happy to go in the
first chance I get and approve it.

And that's it!  Stay safe and warm, and do check out the winter edition of
our farmers market on Thursdays and the underground popup awesome Riverdale
Rooster Coffee House Sunday mornings (just until March 22nd, sad to say)!
