Seems weird to post about swimming when it was snowing last weekend, but
we've belonged to this pool in Adelphi Maryland (near the intersection of
Riggs Road and Adelphi Road) for many years. It's a delightful community,
and we love the big pool, the extended hours, the clean and well-kept bath
house, the slushies and snack bar, and especially the community gatherings
where you can enjoy your fellow pool members.

The Adelphi Swimming Pool is a private, member-owned pool located in the
town of Adelphi, Maryland. Our members come from the surrounding towns of
Adelphi, Beltsville, University Park, Hyattsville, College Park, and
Langley Park. Surrounded by trees and open spaces, the pool facilities are
among the best in the area. We have a 50 meter Olympic size pool with
multiple lap lanes, an 11-foot deep diving well, a slide, and a separate
30' x 30' fenced-in wading pool and play area for our youngest members.

The pool has a wonderful new bath house with locker rooms, showers, and a
snack bar. The bathhouse is fully handicap accessible and has eight showers
in the women's locker room and five in the men's locker room. The pool also
has plenty of places to sit and relax or enjoy a picnic lunch -- choose
shade or sun! On the hill overlooking the pool is a shaded picnic area
where families can enjoy food from home or cook out on one of the pool's
grills. The pool offers free swimming lessons at the beginning of the
season for your little ones, a swim team for the older kids, and water
aerobics for those of us needing a little more exercise. The pool also
offers volleyball, ping pong, badminton, and horseshoes. One unique feature
of our pool is its long hours!

Special weekend and evening activities are often planned.

On family, teen, and pre-teen nights, rafts are allowed in the pool and
there are games to entertain all ages.
